epic/symphonic fantasy based power metal - genewen420 - 02-01-2014

Anyone know of any good fantasy metal? Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Blind Guardian's "Nightfall in Middle-Earth", Dragonland's "Under the Grey Banner", and Evertale's "Of Dragons and Elves"... I've found a lot of fantasy metal that's just sub par, I'm looking for really excellent, stand out stuff. Suggestions anyone?

DragonForce, Power Quest - one of the best bands in my collection, which match your criteria.
HammerFall - also a great band (probably even my favorite), but it's heavy-power.
Epidemia - another cool band, but they are russian and sing in russian.

Thanks for the recommendations, I've never heard Epidemia... I'll have to check them out. I'm already pretty familiar with Hammerfall and Dragonforce. I like both those bands a lot, but I'm looking for something more thematic... I'm a total nut for concept albums!

Oh and i forgot to mention "Timo Tolkki's- Avalon" concept album. And also Avantesia are superbe.
Another GREAT band is "Virgin Steele" and the albums "House of Atreus pt1, 2".

Look at Manowar "Achilles Agony and ecstasy", not exactly fantasy, but fits the bill
Dragon Force and Hammerfall already listed above.....

I'm a bit of a fan of Blind Guardian's at the edge of time album. Like a bit of hammerfall, Edguy, Iced Earth

Pathfiner is a must to listen to. if you like folk/dutch/power metal there is a great band called gloryhammer. some honorable mentions are metalium, crystal viper and crosswind. of course if you want to be a pro in power/fantasy metal you MUST LISTEN TO LOST HORIZON EVEN IF IT IS THE LAST THING YOU LL EVER GET TO DO
