Metal news...... then and now...... - tears_of_fire - 06-12-2015

Once upon a time, when I was a metal kid (a couple of decades ago) there were the paper fan-zines and the paper magazines...... for example, here in Italy, there were METAL SHOCK and FLASH......

Now, that we live in the future, after year 2001 and the space odyssey has passed by, there is internet and all that goes around with it......

once, to know something new about our favourite bands and their new albums, we had to wait a week or a month for the new nember of our metal -zine......now, we can be updated everyday of every metal news, we can just sit down and search on internet.......

Well...... this is the question: where did you take THEN your metal news? and where do you take NOW your metal news?

good -zine AARDSHOCK, there is also a cover with Cristina Scabbia of LACUNA COIL Yahoo

METAL HAMMER is published also here in Italy, and is a very good magazine, a little bit expensive, but very good......

I dont know how old are you mates but I'm guessing Im a lot younger than you. Internet was always relevant when I grew up so I checked the news from there. I wish i had the opportunity to follow fanzines and other good stuff. Followed metal hammer as long as i could but they made it more expensive every month. Sadly quit buying that too. Now my only resource is the webs.

Grin I'm pretty old, let me say...... old enough to remember that, when I was a metal kid, there was no PC and no world wide web, and the only way to know something about what was going aorund with metal were only the paper media (-zines and fan-zines)...... or, another good thing of the good old times gone, the tape-trading, with flyers and posters...... great times......

Laugh1 I am a little bit younger, but not so much, and I have still very clear in my memory what 80s have been...... a great decade, where everyone still belived that every dream could be possible...... now, people don't believe or trust anything, most of all nobody believes in himself......

Maybe it was because of the cold war...... I mean...... a play is good when there are two players, ok? two and both equally strong and good enough to play and fight at the same level...... ok, there was the nuclear fear, but everyone from both parts believed that a victory and a better way to live it could be possible...... now there is only one "player", strong enough to say who can play and who cannot play and to decide the rules and change them during the match...... on the other side there are one or more (more or less little) players, that are only angry because they want to play and they cannot...... in the end it's only a big, huge (but still only) a game...... and what lasts is the fear......
