Less than a month since the foundation of the team, as musicians cut two-track demo ( «Lay Down The Law», «Speed Demon») and played a sold-out concert in front of an audience of polutoratysyachny «Perkin's Palace». At the presentation was attended by such rock artists as Tony Iommi, Terry Butler, Lita Ford and Carmine Eppays. The first two while the negotiated (not succeed) accession to the Qila «Black Sabbath», but turned out to be more agile Eppays, umyknuvshy Henzerlinga for the project «King Kobra». New guitarist «Keel» became Brian Jay, with whom the team continued to storm the Southern California area.
In parallel, the team undertook to prepare their debut album, scheduled for release on «Shrapnel Records». In August, when the plate was at the mixing stage, management «Keel» presented their wards more buoyant businesses, and group easily grabbed a contract with «Gold Mountain / A & M Records». This firm has not stinted on the producers, and from a solid list of names chose the famous 'Kiss' Gene Simmons.
Meanwhile, in the camp of the drummers began a mess, and in a short time the installation had to sit Fred Kauri ( «Cinderella»), Barry Brandt ( «Angel») and Stephen Riley. Recording of the second album began after only a couple of weeks at the end of the sessions «Lay Down The Law». At that time, the band had in store only three songs unsold, so the rest of the material helped Simmons. While working on «The Right To Rock» Riley ran into «W.A.S.P.», and was replaced by Dwayne Miller. released «Lay Down The Law» In November 1984, at the «Shrapnel». The work caused a favorable response, but just three months later, there was a volley of powerful and «The Right To Rock», punched the first hundred, became the bystrorasprodavaemym (at the time) release in the history of «A & M Records».
While the title track on the radio and on MTV, «Keel» headlining in clubs and opening for stadium concerts «Triumph», «Dokken», «Y & T», «Accept», «Helix», etc. Several magazines have assigned a team title «best new band», but «A & M», soothing unexpectedly big album sales did not support the single «Easier Said Than Done», and the band quickly moved under the roof «MCA».
In the fall of 1985, began the session «The Final Frontier». Again, the producer of the remote control sitting Simmons, but this time there was still a lot of guests - Joan Jett, Gregg Dzhiuffria Jamie St. James, Mitch Perry and Michael Des Barrs. Great contribution to the songwriting along with Keel made a Ferrari, but the most successful was the number on the album cover of Patti Smith «Because The Night». Exit «The Final Frontier» accompanied by a European tour with «Dio», then «Keel» gave the circle of North America and looked to Japan. Upon returning home, a team led by Michael Wagener has recorded another album, however, despite the accompanying tours «Motley Crue» and «Bon Jovi», the work did not cause much interest and controversy began in the team.
The first left Ferrari, then it was followed by Jay, and when they replaced the Scott Warren and Tony Palamuchchi. On the label also having difficulties, but Keel and the company was able to release to the «Gold Castle / Gold Mountain» another album composed of half-studio, half of the live tracks. Shortly after the «Larger Than Live» team disbanded, and in 1998 held a short reunion, during which a collection of autteykov «Keel VI: Back In Action» was recorded. Another project revival happened 10 years later, when Ron, Mark, Brian and Dwayne with the participation of a new bassist Gino Archa decided to resume concerts
Right band name is "Keel" :)
