Well, this was a trip. They definitely hit that progressive style. I’d add opera, theatre, and hints of power metal to their sound.
If you like that blend of genres, these are the guys for you. They take you on a journey, and I enjoyed most of the ride. The music is solid—nice and punchy—but the vocals are just a bit too much. She has a decent growling voice that she sometimes layers with her operatic vocals. Those moments are rare, though; she mostly sing‑sings, and I find it overpowers everything. Her vocals end up cancelling out the rest of what’s going on.
She’s good, but the production is taking me out of it. I won’t be able to listen to this otherwise awesome album because of that.
