some rock n roll have and MOTORHEAD. but its metal.
a review for this split.
Respect the Rock America is a ten-song "split" CD that focuses on two gritty, guitar-powered rock outfits: Gluecifer and the Hellacopters. Half of the CD's ten songs are by Gluecifer, while the other half are by the less angry Hellacopters. These bands have two things in common: both recall the FM rock of the early to mid-'70s, and both are bands that not only rock, they also make a point of rolling. When you hear Gluecifer and the Hellacopters, you're transported back to a time when you could turn on an album rock station and expect to hear ZZ Top, Ted Nugent's Amboy Dukes, Deep Purple, Status Quo, Bob Seger, and Humble Pie (among others) in the course of a half-hour. The biggest difference between the two is the fact that Gluecifer has more of a consistently angry edge. This isn't to say that the Hellacopters are without anger and toughness -- one could hardly make that claim when one of their songs is titled "Doggone Your Bad-Luck Soul." But as between the two, Gluecifer is definitely the angriest. Tunes like "No God Damn Phones" and "Shitty City" ooze with attitude. Although not brilliant, this CD provides a likable sampling of both bands.
